Step Beyond THP’s mission is to assist families that are in or facing homelessness by helping them transition out of their current situation to a more sustainable lifestyle one step at a time.
Things we do:
- annually on the week before Christmas provide gift cards, gifts, toys to long term hotel residence along Williamsburg Road (Motel 6, All Days Inn, etc.)
- support the kids and families at Highland Springs Elementary School
- provided belts and shoes one year for uniforms – 2022
- over 200 holiday hygiene bags with toys – 3rd year (2024)
- backpacks & school supplies mid-year (before school if needed, mostly in January/February)
- temporarily house some families transitioning
- support families with emergency needs, if possible, when requested
- pay for hotel stays for persons in hotels running short of funds, individuals/families needing temporary shelter, and/or families escaping domestic violence
- provide dishes, small appliances, beds and other furniture to persons when they transition into more permanent housing
- support persons in distress situations with food, hygiene needs and other items
- upkeep on the church house used to house clients; currently 4 males on site
- 2024 – repaired bathroom
- 2023 – deck repair
- 2025 – repair front entry steps; replace broken window, replace back broken door
- help with deposits on new residences for clients
- on occasion, help fund or relocate domestic violence cases referred from local agencies
